MacBook won't turn on, freezes at startup or shows errors? At MacLife we run comprehensive diagnostics on all MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models — we'll find the cause and propose the optimal solution. Basic diagnostics are free; you only pay for the repair if you decide to commission it. Have a specific symptom? See also: MacBook won't start (PL) and MacBook shuts down by itself (PL).
Most common MacBook startup problems
- Won't turn on at all — no response to the power button, no charging LED
- Turns on but doesn't boot — fans audible, Apple logo visible, the system doesn't start
- Freezes on the progress bar while the system is loading
- Flashing folder with a question mark — the Mac can't find the startup disk
- Black screen — system sounds audible but no image
- Kernel panic — error message and restart in a loop
- Sudden shutdowns during use, without warning
Possible causes
Overheating
A clogged cooling system (dust), worn thermal paste or a damaged fan.
Power supply
A worn or damaged battery, a faulty power adapter, failure of the power controller on the logic board.
Logic board
Damaged integrated circuits, short circuits, corrosion (often after liquid damage).
Memory and disk
Damaged RAM modules, SSD failure, a corrupted file system.
How diagnostics work at MacLife
We ask for details: when the problem occurred, what symptoms preceded it, whether there was liquid damage or a drop, and what the device's history is.
Apple Diagnostics, RAM and SSD tests, temperature measurements, power and battery checks, logic board inspection under a microscope.
Booting in safe mode, booting from an external disk, system log analysis, macOS integrity verification.
You receive a report: the cause of the problem, a list of damaged components, a recommendation, a quote, the turnaround time and an assessment of whether the repair is worthwhile.
Most common solutions
- Damaged SSD — replacement and system reinstallation
- RAM problems — memory module replacement
- Corrupted macOS — reinstallation (data can usually be preserved)
- Damaged logic board — microelectronics-level repair or board replacement
- Power problems — replacement of the power adapter, battery or charging controller
- Overheating — cleaning the cooling system, replacing the thermal paste

Frequently asked questions
Is MacBook diagnostics paid?
Basic diagnostics are free. Extended electronics diagnostics (349 zł) or liquid damage diagnostics (250 zł) are always paid and added to the repair cost — you pay for them even if you ultimately decide not to proceed with the repair.
Will I lose the data on my MacBook during the repair?
In most repairs the data remains intact, and a system reinstallation can usually be performed while preserving your data. Still, we recommend making a backup before service — we'll help you with it; see our guide on Apple backup.
Do you repair MacBooks after liquid damage?
Yes — it's one of our specialties. We perform ultrasonic cleaning and microelectronics-level logic board repair. The sooner a liquid-damaged MacBook reaches us, the better the chance of saving both the hardware and the data.
I live outside Warsaw — can I send my MacBook in?
Yes. We serve all of Poland via our courier service — we collect the equipment, diagnose it, repair it and send it back. You'll find the details in the guide "Apple service by courier".
