iPhone Extended Warranty: What AppleCare+ Doesn't Tell You

Extend the warranty on your replaced iPhone screen or battery by another 12 months. We explain it straight — what's covered, what isn't, how much it costs and how it differs from AppleCare+.

We repaired your iPhone — replaced the screen or the battery — and for 12 months we stand behind the quality of that repair under the standard MacLife warranty. But what next? The phone is meant to serve you for another year or two. The MacLife Extended Warranty lets you extend our responsibility for the replaced part by another 12 months — for a fraction of the repair cost. Below we explain it honestly, with no fine print: what exactly it covers, what it doesn't, and why it's not the same thing as AppleCare+.

In short (TL;DR)

The MacLife Extended Warranty extends the warranty on the specific replaced part (screen or battery) by an additional 12 months — up to 24 months in total from pickup. It covers a defect of the replaced part (e.g. touch failing on its own, a swollen battery), but it does not protect against accidents — drops, breakage or liquid damage are not covered. It is not insurance and it does not replace AppleCare+. Price: battery 49 zł, screen 15% of the repair cost (min. 49 zł).

What the MacLife Extended Warranty Is

The MacLife Extended Warranty is a voluntary, paid extension of our responsibility for the quality of the repair by an additional 12 months — 24 months in total from the day you pick up the device from the service center.

The warranty covers exactly the part we replaced during the repair:

  • if we replaced the screen → the extension covers the screen,
  • if we replaced the battery → the extension covers the battery.

If, during the extended warranty period, the part we replaced fails due to a material or workmanship defect, we will repair or replace it free of charge. It's a simple promise: we stand behind the part you had replaced with us — for two years, not one.

Why does this make sense? Our service data shows that a replaced part genuinely rarely fails due to a defect — for screens and batteries it's a fraction of repairs. That's why we can offer the extension cheaper than any insurance: you're paying mostly for peace of mind, not for a high risk.

What Exactly It Covers (Screen and Battery)

The Extended Warranty covers failures resulting from a defect of the replaced part — i.e. situations in which the component stops working properly without any external cause.

Screen — covered

• loss of image or backlight without external cause

• dead pixels, bands or discoloration that appeared spontaneously

• touch that stops working (without mechanical damage)

• the display detaching or lifting due to an installation defect

Battery — covered

• unnaturally fast capacity loss (beyond normal wear)

• swelling of the cell

• sudden shutdowns of the device caused by a cell defect

• failure to charge caused by a defect of the replaced battery

In each of these cases, simply contact the MacLife service center — we will diagnose the fault and, if the cause is a defect of the replaced part, repair it at no additional cost.

What It Does NOT Cover (Exclusions)

We say this plainly, because we prefer honesty over surprises. The Extended Warranty is not insurance and does not cover damage caused by reasons unrelated to the quality of our repair:

  • Mechanical damage — drops, impacts, crushing, new screen cracks.
  • Liquid damage and moisture — contact with liquid, corrosion, moisture traces inside the device.
  • Third-party interference — opening or repairing the device at another service center after our repair.
  • Normal wear and tear of the battery within specification (a battery naturally loses capacity over time).
  • Cosmetic damage — scratches, scuffs and abrasions that don't affect operation.
  • Software defects and faults unrelated to the replaced part.
  • Theft and loss of the device.

The warranty also covers only the one replaced part — not the whole phone. A battery extension doesn't cover the screen, and vice versa. It is also non-transferable and applies to a specific device (serial number / IMEI) and a specific repair.

Cracked the screen again? If it's new mechanical damage (e.g. another drop), it's not covered — that's a new repair. The Extended Warranty applies to a defect of the part itself (e.g. touch failing on its own), not to the consequences of an accident. If you're looking for protection against drops and liquid damage — that's a job for insurance or AppleCare+, which we cover below.

Extended Warranty vs AppleCare+ vs Insurance

These are three different products that are easy to confuse. Put simply: a warranty protects against a defect, while insurance protects against an accident.

Feature MacLife Extended Warranty AppleCare+ / insurance
What it applies to A defect of the replaced part (screen or battery) Accidental damage to the whole device
Drop / breakage ❌ Not covered ✅ Covered (with an excess per incident)
Liquid damage ❌ Not covered ✅ Usually covered
Defect of the replaced part ✅ Covered, free of charge Depends on the terms
Excess per repair 0 zł (free defect repair) Yes — a fee per incident
Cost One-off, a fraction of the repair cost Subscription / annual package

How to read this: if you're afraid you'll drop the phone — you need insurance or AppleCare+. If you want the certainty that the part you had replaced with us won't fail — that's exactly what the MacLife Extended Warranty is for. The two products can complement each other; they don't replace one another.

How Much the MacLife Extended Warranty Costs

The price is proportional to the value of the replaced part — you pay less for a simpler repair, more for a costlier one. This makes the offer fair regardless of the iPhone model.

Part Price of the 12-month extension Example
Battery 49 zł (fixed) Regardless of model
Screen 15% of the repair cost (min. 49 zł) A screen for 500 zł → 75 zł; an iPhone Pro screen for 1200 zł → 180 zł

For comparison: replacing the screen again out of warranty means the full repair cost — often from 400 zł to over 1200 zł depending on the model (see the iPhone repair price list). An extension for 75–180 zł means that if the part turns out to be defective, you pay nothing.

How to Buy the Extension

You don't have to remember anything — we'll remind you at the right moment.

Step by step
  • After the repair of the screen or battery you have 12 months of the standard MacLife warranty.
  • On the day the warranty ends we'll send you an SMS and an e-mail with a link to extend it.
  • You pay online — the warranty automatically extends by another 12 months.
  • Done — for the next year the replaced part is covered by our responsibility.

You make the decision just before the warranty ends — when you already know the part works flawlessly and you want that peace of mind to last longer.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. AppleCare+ is insurance that covers, among other things, accidental damage (with an excess per incident). The MacLife Extended Warranty covers only a defect of the part you had replaced with us — it doesn't protect against a drop or liquid damage.

If it's new mechanical damage (another drop) — no, that's a new repair. The Extended Warranty applies to a defect of the part itself, e.g. touch failing on its own or the display detaching, not to the consequences of an accident.

You can extend the warranty for each of the replaced parts. At purchase we'll show you exactly what the offer covers and how much it costs for your repair.

We send the extension link on the day the standard 12-month warranty ends, and it stays active for a limited time. Once it expires, the extension is no longer available for that repair — so it's worth using the link as soon as you receive it.

No. The MacLife Extended Warranty is a voluntary additional service and does not exclude, limit or suspend any rights arising from statutory warranty provisions and consumer law.

Summary

The MacLife Extended Warranty is a simple way to be sure that the replaced screen or battery will serve you not one year, but two. For a one-off fee — battery 49 zł, screen 15% of the repair cost — you extend our responsibility for a part defect by another 12 months.

We say plainly what it doesn't cover: drops, liquid damage, normal wear. It's not insurance and it doesn't replace AppleCare+. But if you want the peace of mind that the part you had replaced with us won't fail — this is the simplest and cheapest way to get it.
