How battery replacement works at MacLife
We run the whole process in four steps, and a typical replacement takes 1–3 hours depending on the model.
Step 1: Free diagnosis
The technician checks the battery cycle count in macOS, tests the actual runtime, verifies the condition (Apple Diagnostics) and checks whether the battery is swollen. The diagnosis takes 15–30 minutes and is completely free.
Step 2: Quote and approval
You receive a quote: the cost of the battery for your model, labour, turnaround time and warranty details. You make the decision consciously, before we start.
Step 3: Battery replacement
We remove the bottom case, disconnect and take out the worn battery (in many MacBooks it is glued in), install the new one, then reassemble the laptop and check all functions.
Step 4: Calibration and testing
Before handing the device back, we charge the battery to 100%, test the actual runtime, verify that the system detects the battery and reset the SMC (System Management Controller).
